I think I may have figured out what I want to call my new body of work:
"The Search for Innocent Appreciation of Color"
The layman title will be "Fun with Colors"
Personally, I like Fun with Colors, but I'm not sure how people will view that.
I know I haven't put up the paintings on my site yet, cause I'm having some problems with my computer, but they're coming soon.
Basically, Fun with Colors is a set of paintings that shows the love that I have for color. It's a love that comes from my inner child. The child that fell in-love with art in the first place.
I have been studying painting and drawing since I was around 7 years old. As a trained illustrator and artist, I have been educated with skills and knowledge that are supposed to help organize and improve my creativity. As far as my training has taken me with my product, I sometimes notice that I loose my desire or passion for the process (of creating art) whenever my skills and knowledge make me too analytical or over critical of my work. In otherwords, sometimes I think so much that I stop having fun.
Through "The Search for Innocent Appreciation of Color" (or Fun with Colors), I want to stop thinking so much and start feeling the joy of painting through one of it's basic forms. The colors on my new paintings, collaged over and beside eachother are inspired by the colors that I see around me.
the blues of the sky
the greens of grass and trees
the reds and oranges of flowers
I also let myself get inspired by childhood delights such as ice cream and toys. Anything that has "cool" or "neat" colors really.
so I take these colors and put them on the canvas. And play. Often, while I play with my paint, I find myself giggling, and feeling giddy over the color combinations that gradually start to appear on the canvas.
my memory reminds me why I started painting in the first place - it's just so much fun.
ofcourse i cannot totally forget all the rules that i have learned in regards to painting. i know i need it in order for everyone else to understand what i'm doing. but sure do try to use as little rules as i can!
