About the Harmony Series

There is something about these paintings
that I thoroughly enjoy

there is a mood that feel when i look at them

this solemn relaxed mood

i took down Green Grass from the studio
and placed it in my living room

it looks so lovely
subtle, strong
serene, vibrant

i love how it just keeps me company
without demanding too much of my attention

i have been asked why i don't have "focal points"
or subject matter in my new series.

they ask why i don't have much contrast in them

"why are they just blotches of color?"

without line, without form, or images

i think i would have asked the same questions 5 years ago
i would have begged for me to put some symbols
or writing in the paintings

or maybe pictures of flowers or something

10 years ago i would have asked myself to put something
striking in it that demands the viewers attention

but i think i'm different right now
i do not want to demand attention
and i don't want to beg for acceptance as much
as i used to

i want to be subtle and strong
unique but confident
serene but with a vibrant soul

i feel that my new paintings represent
these very characteristics

and i do enjoy them thoroughly
